September 20, 2006
September 20, 2006 - Silver Spruce Resources Inc. (TSXV:SSE, Frankfurt S6Q) is pleased to announce analytical results from the recent discovery of an anomalous radioactive zone, announced on September 12, 2006, on airborne radiometric target Central Mineral Belt ("CMB") NW2, located to the south of the Kanairiktok River, in the western part of the CMB of Labrador.
Grab samples were taken from 22 locations over an area of approximately 300 m by 50 m, along the trend of the radiometric anomaly (map available at www.silverspruceresources.com). Values ranged from 2783 to 18 ppm U3O8. Eight samples gave individual values > 0.1 % U3O8 with 12 samples averaging > 0.05 % U3O8 (see Table 1 for individual sample results). Individual results in duplicate samples were sometimes quite variable, possibly due to a "nugget affect" in the samples. This is being addressed by the laboratory; however, it is obvious that this radioactive zone carries significant uranium mineralization. The zone remains open in all directions.
The host rock is a felsic intrusive which has been brecciated and fractured with red earthy hematite and a grey mineral, possibly uraninite, associated with fractures. Uranophane, a yellow alteration product of uranium, has been tentatively identified in the field.
Analyses were performed by Activation Laboratories in Ancaster, Ontario, an approved, accredited laboratory, using the delayed neutron activation technique, which gives good results for samples carrying up to 1 % U.
Follow up on this target will consist of prospecting, gridding, soil and humus geochemistry, ground scintillometer surveys, geological mapping, hand trenching and channel sampling to prepare for a drilling program planned for winter 2007.
The CMBNW block is part of the Silver Spruce/Universal Uranium Ltd. (TSXV:UUL) CMB/Seal Lake joint venture previously announced. Under the terms of this agreement, Universal Uranium can earn a 60-percent interest in the properties by spending $2-million on exploration over a three year period with Silver Spruce acting as the operator during the earn-in period.
This release has been approved by Peter Dimmell, P.Geo., Vice President of Exploration, Silver Spruce Resources Inc., who is a Qualified Person (QP) as defined in National Instrument 43-101.
